Twelve-year-old Emma Bryant loves to dance
and wants to make the special dance squad. But she needs to practice, practice,
practice. It's why she'd rather be in class than at best friend's birthday
party in the Haunted Museum. One room has a special display of music boxes, one
with a ballerina and partner that spin and spin to the haunting music. Emma
touches the box when she goes home, the box shows up at her home. It's like it
followed her home. What is
even more amazing is that when the music plays, Emma
can dance like a professional. At first it's great, but then things begin the
change. She begins seeing things that scare her and tries to get rid of the
box. It doesn't work, the box keeps returning. Emma realizes she has to break
the spell of the music box and to that she must track down its origin.
This was a fun read. Girls who love dance will
especially enjoy how Emma has deal with wanting to be the best and what it
takes to get there. The book weaves history, the supernatural and mystery into
a tight package.
