Maddy and Benji are thrilled that the
family budget is tight and it looks like there won't be a family vacation
this year. They're both disappointed when their dad announces that he has
found an affordable holiday alternative. The family is doing a house swap
with another family in Paris, France. While the French family, the Vadims,
live in their house, the Hitchcocks will be staying at the Vadims'. Of course
when they arrive in Paris, it's obvious that something odd is going on.
Suddenly they are caught up in the middle of mistaken identities and
international intrigue. Menacing strangers start appear at an alarming rate
demanding that they hand over some mysterious object. Soon the Hitchcocks are
on the run for their lives. And they don't even know why.
THE FAMILY HITCHCOCK is an enjoyable read
about a quirky family on vacation. Although it takes about fifty pages for
the mystery to actually begin, the set up of the family dynamics is fun. And
once the mystery does start, the story takes off; loaded with action,
intrigue, with a lot of off-beat humor.
TARGET AUDIENCE: Grades 6-8
MYSTERY / SUSPENSE: High
KID APPEAL: Fun read for boys &
girls
