Gilda Joyce applies for a scholarship at a Catholic girls school called Our
Lady of Sorrows. One look at the place, with its dorky pink school uniforms, is
enough for Gilda to change her mind about transferring there. So what if it's
an exclusive, prestigious school that most girls would die to attend. Gilda
figures she will be just as happy, if not happier, at public school with her
best friend and where she can wear any cool outfit she likes. But then Gilda
finds out that Dolores Lambert, a freshman four years earlier, fell through the
ice on the lake and died. Even more exciting, the dead girl might be haunting
the school. Gilda can't resist the challenge of finding out what really
happened. After all, she is a psychic detective and this is not her first case.
She enrolls and the game begins. Gilda doesn't really fit in at her new school,
but that doesn't matter. Undercover work is like that. Using her detective and
psychic skills, she uncovers a secret club and the truth behind Dolores death.
At the same time, puts her own life in danger.
This
was a fun read. Gilda has a unique view of life and a quick wit. Her life isn't
perfect at home, but she's not letting it drag her down. The mystery is good.
Her detective skills are right on. Plus, her personal journal of letters
written to her dead father, reveal a side of her that's otherwise downplayed.
It's all put together with a splash of irresistible humor. Girls will love it.
