SHADOWS ON SOCIETY HILL is part of
the American Girl series. It's full
of action, mystery, and intrigue set in a turbulent historical time period of
our nation's past. It's well paced and the characters are well drawn. It brings
the reader up close to the injustices of prejudice and slavery, but at the same
time it doesn't feel at all preachy. You will like Addy because she's bright,
spunky and brave. Young girls will especially love this book.
Target audience: Grades 4-6
Mystery / suspense: good
