The new home is more wonderful than imagined, but not every one is happy that a colored family has moved
into the neighborhood. Strange things start happening and Addy decides it's up to her to investigate. She can't let their good fortune be ruined. She is more than surprised as she uncovers the secrets of her new home. Dangerous secrets that trail back to the plantation she and her mother left behind.
SHADOWS ON SOCIETY HILL is part of the American Girl series. It's full of action, mystery, and intrigue set in a turbulent historical time period of our nation's past. It's well paced and the characters are well drawn. It brings the reader up close to the injustices of prejudice and slavery, but at the same time it doesn't feel at all preachy. You will like Addy because she's bright, spunky and brave. Young girls will especially love this book.
