BOOK REVIEW: SKELETON CREEK- THE RAVEN

SKELETON CREEK: THE RAVEN
Patrick Carman
Scholastic
2011

Available: hardcopy, Kindle, audible

THE RAVEN is the 4th book in the SKELETON CREEK series.
Ryan and his friend Sarah Fincher's story unfolds on the pages of Ryan's journal. The two friends are on a quest of sorts to discover who the Raven is. What he wants? Why he is after them?
The story is one part mystery, one part supernatural thriller. What's different about this book and the series, is that part of it is told through on-line videos. But in case the reader doesn't have access to the Internet, the journal fills in the missing information.
Reluctant readers will enjoy the mix of mystery, the supernatural and media component. For every question answered in Ryan's journal, another is put forth. And the book ends with several unanswered questions.

Target audience: Grades 7-9
Mystery / suspense: High
Kid appeal: Reluctant readers
