This is
the third Zet Mystery set in ancient Egypt.
Zet leaves his sister home to run the family's pottery
stand in the market while he and his best friend Hui travel north on a secret
mission for the Queen mother. They are to find the pharaoh's favorite daughter
before her disappearance is
discovered. The boys are eager to solve the mystery
of the missing princess and to set off on what promises to be an exciting
adventure. Even though the stakes are high, they don't realize the dangers they
will have to face if they are to save Princess Meritamon and to protect Egypt from an
evil Hykos' plot.
This was a fun read. Lot's of action. Lot's of
danger. Lot's of intrigue. Kids will enjoy tracking down the clues with Zet.
Plus the world of ancient Egypt is an amazing backdrop for the mystery. What's especially
nice is that the boys seem like real boys and not some moldy old ancient kids.
Target audience: Grades
5-8
Mystery / suspense: High
Kid appeal: Great,
especially for boys
