KID DETECTIVE:
ENCYCLOPEDIA BROWN
Encyclopedia Brown
is a fictional boy detective, the son of a local police chief in the fictional
town of Idaville. His real name is Leroy, but was given the nickname Encyclopedia for obvious reasons. His brainy
smarts and ability to recall all sorts of information make him a walking
encyclopedia.
Encyclopedia solves all his cases by closing
his eyes and concentrating on the mystery at hand. Then he asks a single
question from which he solves the case. In short, he is a junior Sherlock
Holmes.
The twenty-nine book series
was written by Donald J. Sobol. The first book published in 1963. The popular
middle grade books were followed by both a popular comic strip and a T.V. series.
