A DETECTIVE BROWN RIDDLE

A DETECTIVE BROWN RIDDLE

A rich man named James Leo Wadsworth IV was murdered on a Sunday afternoon in his mansion. Detective Brown investigated. Only the butler, the cook, the maid, the gardener and Leo's wife were at home when the murder was committed.

Detective Brown asked them all the same question: Where were you when the murder took place?

This is what they said.

Maid: I was fixing the table.

Cook: I was cooking breakfast.

Butler: I was polishing the silverware and the dishes. Gardener: I was planting tomato seeds.

Wife: I was reading a book.

Who did it?

THE COOK. YOU DON'T COOK BREAKFAST IN THE AFTERNOON
