Fourteen-year-old Alex Rider is a
spy for M16, a British secret intelligence organization. While on vacation in
Italy, he's recruited by Scorpia an organization engaged in terrorism around the
world. Their manipulation of him is so complete he is convinced to assassinate
his former boss at M16. He fails the assassination and is captured. That's when he
realizes and he's been a pawn in Scorpia's evil plot to kill thousands of
British kids. Alex can't let that happen. He returns to Scorpia, but this time
as a double agent to thwart their evil plans.
This is a real fun book for kids
who love a James Bond style of spy story for kids. There are plenty of twist and
turns in the plot. Lots of action. Lots of intrigue. Lots of suspense. Boys especially
will like Alex and his daring exploits.
Target audience: grades 7-10
Mystery/ Suspense: exciting
Kid appeal: boys especially
