Lenny Norbeck is crazy about baseball and hopes one day to become a sports announcer. He and his two best friends, Mike and Other Mike, plan to launch Lenny into stardom by entering and hopefully winning a contest to be a Phillies' Armchair Announcer. The winner gets to announce one inning of the game. All goes as planned until the night of the
game when a player drops dead during the game and Lenny's big opportunity becomes a foul ball. Lenny and the two Mikes think the player's death is suspicious and launch their own investigate to find the truth.
This is a fast-paced sports mystery with three intrepid kid detectives. Boys especially should enjoy the humor and sports connection woven throughout the story. A lot of the characters are over the top and fun. The mystery is solid and plays out well.

Target audience: Grades 6-8
Mystery / suspense: good

Kid appeal: High for boys
